Spawn was considered the best and was named Al Simmons, a trained assassin. He was a well-known soldier that was at his most prosperous point when he saved the President. He was promoted to a high degree of the C.I.A. that coped with the matters that the Government had kept confidential from the general public. Al began questioning if they had been correct and soon realized that the Government was right. This caught people's attention in power.
Following an almost threatening confrontation with a Redeemer, Spawns suit became more sophisticated and mutated. The unusual cape became slightly ripped, and the glow that had come in the costume was gone, and had evolved to what is black and white. Spawn used to have boots and gloves, but he discovered that those had changed, becoming replaced with spikes. Spawn's suit was more powerful than the original and had found out that he had a cape and chains, which were able to shape shift into various things to confuse his enemies. After finding this out, Spawn used his blades to slash off a redeemer's hand.
Spawn needed his own movie in 1997, starring actor and artist Michael Jai White. After a couple of years of development issues, the strategy was dropped, although the film would have a sequel. It was announced that Todd McFarlane had started writing the screenplay for a film based on the character. The movie is set to star Leonardo DiCaprio as a police officer working at town and coming in touch with Spawn.
