For his very first appearance in Batman #1, the Joker was introduced with no source story, merely existing. Detective Comics #168 disclosed that, prior to his transformation, the Joker was the criminal known as the Red Hood, afterwards falling into a vat of chemicals, making him the Joker that everybody has known him to be.
The Joker's facial nerves are paralyzed, making him look as if he's perpetually grinning, an expression called a"rictus grin". His green hair and nails, his lips, and his skin are all as a result of chemical exposure. The Joker's face is damaged from enormous scarring in the shape of a hideous smile.
The Joker says that the only way to depart the city and threatens that the city is going to probably be taken over by his principles. Joker then gives a test to the citizens on two ferries (one of them filled with incarcerated criminals) he has rigged with bombs, but every ferry is supplied a detonator into another boat, giving the the choice to either blow up another boat or spare them, but if neither leaves an option, both would be destroyed. Joker is eventually stopped by the Batman who throws him on the edge of a building, Joker while hanging upside down on the border countries to Batman which they're destined to do so indefinitely and tells him about the location of Dent, stating he attracted Dent"down to our level" since Batman goes to find Dent, the police detain the Joker as he whined in victory. This Joker was played by the Heath Ledger.
